TL;DR
RestroFi helped two very different F&B businesses grow by removing operational friction. Jai's Retreat, Ooty ran 143 guest room-folios and settled 140 in a single tap; Chip Munk Cafe photographed 97% of its 161-item menu and took roughly 99% of orders via QR scan-to-order — with 58% and 37% repeat customers respectively.
Growing a food & beverage business rarely comes down to one big idea. It comes down to removing the small, daily frictions that quietly cap how much your guests order and how smoothly your team can serve them — the paper KOTs, the "which room ordered what," the menu guests can't quite picture, the checkout queue.
RestroFi is the all-in-one operating system that removes that friction: QR scan-to-order, kitchen display, GST billing, WhatsApp, analytics, and a full offline-capable POS in one place. To show what that looks like in the real world, here are two very different RestroFi businesses — a hill-station resort and a high-street cafe — and the real, early numbers from their operations.
Every figure below is pulled straight from each business's live RestroFi dashboard.
Jai's Retreat, Ooty: turning the checkout desk into a single tap
Jai's Retreat is a boutique farmhouse-style resort in the Nilgiris above Ooty. Guests settle in for days, not hours — chai on the lawn in the afternoon, breakfast in-room, dinner in the restaurant. That relaxed rhythm creates a hard operational problem: one guest's stay is really one bill, scattered across several days, multiple family phones, and a dozen small orders that are trivially easy to lose on paper.
What RestroFi changed
We rolled out room-folio billing, purpose-built for stay-based properties. Reception checks a room in; every order from any guest phone — via the in-room and lawn QR codes — lands automatically on that room's folio. At departure, reception pulls up the consolidated bill and settles the entire stay in a single tap. And because RestroFi Connect keeps taking orders and printing through internet drops, Ooty's famously patchy connectivity never stops service.
The real numbers
- 143 guest room-folios run — and 140 settled in one tap. That's a 98% one-tap settlement rate; only 3 stays were still open (guests currently in-house) at the time of writing. The days of reception reconciling paper slips at checkout are simply gone.
- 58% repeat guests. Nearly six in ten of Jai's identified diners have ordered more than once — the clearest sign that ordering has become effortless enough that guests keep doing it throughout their stay.
- ~4 items per order on average — noticeably larger, family-and-room-sized tickets, exactly what you'd expect when a whole table can order from their own phones without flagging down a server.
- Dine-in and takeaway on one system, all flowing into the same kitchen and billing.
- Uninterrupted service through connectivity drops, thanks to offline-first billing — a genuine risk in the hills, now a non-issue.
The resort's team stopped chasing paperwork and went back to hosting. The folio grew because ordering — and paying — got effortless.
Chip Munk Cafe: a menu you can see, ordered from the table
Chip Munk is a busy, high-footfall neighbourhood cafe with an ambitious, ever-changing menu of 161 items across 31 categories — coffees, chai, all-day bakes, cookies, cold brews and more. A menu that big is a double-edged sword: plenty to love, but overwhelming on a printed card and traditionally impossible to photograph.
What RestroFi changed
We put Chip Munk's entire menu on RestroFi scan-to-order and made it genuinely irresistible to browse — starting by photographing it. Using RestroFi's AI menu-imaging, the team generated clean, appetising, on-brand photos for effectively the whole catalogue in a fraction of the time and cost of a shoot. Smart category structure and dietary tagging keep a big menu feeling small on a phone, and live top-seller analytics tell the team what's flying.
The real numbers
- 97% of the menu is photographed — 156 of 161 items imaged. Guests order what they can see, and at Chip Munk almost the entire menu is now visual.
- Around 300 orders in a single recent week — roughly 50 a day — served through RestroFi's live ordering, at real cafe pace.
- Effectively all-QR ordering: about 99% of orders were dine-in scan-to-order. The table is the point of sale; the floor spends its time serving, not taking down orders.
- 96% clean completion — only about 4% of orders cancelled. A fast, accurate flow from tap to kitchen to table.
- 37% repeat customers. More than a third of Chip Munk's identified guests have already come back and ordered again — strong early loyalty for a cafe.
- A whole menu getting discovered. Top sellers span staples and treats alike — regular chai, classic cold coffee, choc-chip cookies, maska bun — the kind of add-ons that only get ordered when guests can see them.
Same kitchen, same footfall — but with the full menu visual and orderable from the table, guests discover more and the specials finally get their moment.
The pattern behind both stories
Two businesses, two completely different bottlenecks — and the same underlying idea. Neither grew through a discount or an ad. They grew by removing operational friction so the demand already walking through the door converts into more, and larger, orders — and so the team spends its energy on hospitality instead of paperwork.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does RestroFi help resorts and hotels bill guests?
RestroFi's room-folio billing ties every order a guest places — from any phone, across their whole stay — to their room, then lets reception settle the entire folio in a single tap at checkout. Jai's Retreat in Ooty ran 143 folios and settled 140 of them (98%) this way, replacing paper slips and end-of-stay reconciliation.
Can RestroFi handle a large or frequently changing menu?
Yes. Chip Munk Cafe runs 161 items across 31 categories on RestroFi, with 97% of the menu photographed using RestroFi's AI menu-imaging and every item orderable via QR scan-to-order from the table.
Does RestroFi work without reliable internet?
Yes. RestroFi Connect is offline-first — it keeps taking orders and printing KOTs through internet drops and syncs automatically when the connection returns. Jai's Retreat in Ooty kept serving through the hill station's frequent connectivity outages with zero interruption.
What kinds of businesses use RestroFi?
Cafes, restaurants, bars, cloud kitchens, resorts and farmhouses — anywhere guests order and pay. RestroFi brings QR ordering, kitchen display, GST billing, WhatsApp, room-folio billing, offline POS and analytics into one system.
