Problem 01

Tips without the awkwardness.

Customers resent a 25% default on a $4 coffee. Staff resent guessing who gets what. Restrofi will keep it honest on both sides.

Problem 02

The fast-casual lunch rush.

Ninety minutes, most of your day's revenue. The counter and the line hit one kitchen screen today; order-ahead and pickup times join it with launch.

The bigger story

Not another POS. A memory for your restaurant.

Payments are the floor. What grows a counter-service spot is knowing guests, acting on data, and bringing regulars back, cheaply.

Indian and Desi restaurants

POS for Indian and Desi restaurants: menus, sales tax, tips and card payments.

General information, not tax or legal advice. Rules and dates can change; check them for your business.

Indian and Desi restaurants in the US, from Oak Tree Road in Edison to Devon Avenue in Chicago, often run a counter, a buffet or thali line and a sit-down room at once. Restrofi is built by a team that runs this workflow for restaurants in India, and the menu side works today: veg marks, variants and add-ons for spice levels, combos and thalis, and order notes on every kitchen ticket.

Sales tax rates vary by state, county and city. With launch, each location will carry its own sales tax rate, so a restaurant in New Jersey and one in Texas each print the right line on the check. It is not live today.

A tip screen calculated on the pre-tax amount, with "No tip" the same size as the other options, and tip pooling by hours worked arrive with launch. Tip pooling and tip credit rules vary by state, so check your own obligations; this is not legal advice.

Card payments at the table and at the counter arrive with launch. Restrofi needs no hardware bundle: it runs on Android tablets you own, a Windows PC with Restrofi Connect, and standard thermal printers.

FAQ

Questions from US restaurants

Is Restrofi available in the US now?
In early access. Restrofi is opening in the US with a small group of founding restaurants. Counter and QR ordering, KOTs and the kitchen display, tables and running checks, the Android staff app, inventory and reports work today; restaurants in India use them daily. Dollar pricing, sales tax by city, tips and card payments at the table arrive with launch; they are not live yet.
Does Restrofi work for Indian and Desi restaurants?
Yes, the menu and kitchen side works today: veg marks, variants and add-ons for spice levels, combos and thalis, and order notes on every kitchen ticket, as restaurants in India use daily. Dollar pricing, sales tax, tips and card payments for US restaurants arrive with launch.
Will it handle sales tax where we are?
With launch. Sales tax rates vary by state, county and city, so each location will carry its own rate and a restaurant in New Jersey and one in Texas each print the right line on the check. It is not live today; tell us your cities on your demo call.
How will tips work?
With launch: guests pick 18%, 20%, 22% or a custom tip on the pre-tax amount when they pay from the QR menu, the tip shows on the check, and reports split tips by server or pool them for the shift. None of this is live yet, and tip pooling rules vary by state.
Will Restrofi process card payments?
With launch. Card payments at the table and at the counter are part of the US launch and are not live today. Which payment providers are supported will be confirmed before launch; tell us what you use now on your demo.
How much will Restrofi cost?
Founding pricing in USD, per location, is shared on your demo call; it is not published on this page. Founding partners keep those terms locked for their first year.
Do I need new hardware?
No special hardware. Restrofi runs in a web browser and on Android: Android phones and tablets for staff and the kitchen display, Windows PCs with Restrofi Connect for counter billing and auto-printing, and standard thermal printers for KOTs and bills.
How quickly can we be running, and when is support available?
For US founding partners, onboarding starts when we launch here and our team does the setup with you, scheduled in your own time zone, Eastern to Pacific. In India, most restaurants are running within a week of their demo. Support is on WhatsApp and email, in your time zone, from launch.
